Father Z is a Liar

Quo vadis?

This isn't to start or continue a blog war. It's not click bait.

It's correcting the record.

Father Z just accused some Catholic conservatives and traditionalists of enjoying griping about the Pope, of enjoying the suffering of other Catholics, of enjoying seeing the Pope (among others) attempt to destroy the Church from the inside. Father Z thinks they want the upcoming Exhortation to be bad.

I know a few of the most prominent traditionalists fairly well. And that's a bloody lie. They love Christ and His Church. They're not enjoying anyone's suffering. Rather they're suffering intensely themselves, far more than an arrogant, emotionally stunted internet priest could ever know.

And if you take the "prominent" out, I'm one of them.

God sees all. Don't worry. Or maybe some should worry.

Why don't you stop lying about people?

  1. You must understand that Father Z speaks as he does because he has a very vested interest in keeping things status quo. If he admits to the reality of an apostate pope, where would that lead? This is a very hard time for all orthodox Catholics, but our suffering pales in comparison to what priests will suffer. Each of us must eventually take a side either for God or for untruth, but priests, if they side with Christ, will suffer more than anyone else. I do not read Father Z because I do not trust what he says. He truly insists on the rose-colored glasses.

  2. Perhaps he means enjoying in the sense that they can say "I told you so", "I was right about the pope", etc. Not enjoying seeing the church go in the wrong direction. I read the post you linked to and I'm not sure he is saying as much you think he is. I could be wrong though.

  3. Rose colored glasses? More like blinders; and so many follow.

  4. Fr.Z.can not be trusted. He is happy in his current assignment and will not jeopardize it.

  5. I have never commented on your blog before this, but I read it because your writing is worth reading, your thoughts and insights are valuable - even if you think you are not "prominent."
However, to call someone a liar is very serious indeed. It can appear correct if they said something which is at odds with reality, which you believe is so in this case. However, if the person you accuse, sees the reality differently, was misinformed or mistaken in his perception, he would be telling what he believed to be the truth, just as you are in your post. It is a grave sin against charity for either to call the other a liar, which judges them of having deliberately departed from adhering to the Truth (Whom we know and serve) and of breaking God's prohibition against bearing false witness. You really should retract your hasty judgment, and discourage commenters from blackening a man's character, especially if he is a priest of Christ.

    1. OK, then, would you settle for 'calumniator'?

    2. I appreciate your point, B flat. And I thank you for making it. But referring to the "Gran mal Schadenfreude" of people who will criticize the document is just too much. And, frankly, it's part of a growing pattern with him--positioning himself in the "middle" by putting down those bad traditionalists.

And frankly, I'd much rather be called a liar then be accused of ENJOYING seeing the Church go to pieces and more souls go off to hell. How can any Catholic, much less any priest say something like that? What a sick and grotesque thing to say about fellow Catholics.

So I stand by it. But perhaps I shouldn't have said it in public. I thought about it and decided someone should. But it's possible I was wrong.

Again, thank you for your comment. I appreciate it.

  6. More and more the separation of the sheep from the goats is palpable in this 3rd year of the Franciscan papacy.

Your are right about Father sneeringly proclaiming Tradtionalists or fundamentalist Catholics being so disappointed the document is not worse. That is shameful.

I had a spring in my step during the Benedictine papacy--Joy that for all who would listen (Catholics and non- Catholics alike) Benedict XVI had precious gems to unpack for our edification and journey toward salvation. Oh, how joyful I would be if Francis was 1/10 as crystalline and faithful in proclaiming the Church's teachings. My prayers for him and the Church are ceaseless. I am devastated to hear this morning that situational ethics are promulgated in the latest encyclical.

  7. This pope, like every pope, is under attack by Satan. He needs our prayers. He also needs our corrections when he strays from the Truth. We, the laity, have as much obligation as does the Pope to defend the true Faith.

    1. This pope is IN LEAGUE with satan...no attack for a fellow compatriot. He made that undeniable, abundantly clear today.

  8. Could it be a technique to preemptively shut down or discredit critics of this abominable document?

    2. I don't think Father Z is part of the conspiracy. And I'm sure he doesn't like this Pope. It's just his little game to preserve for himself a certain reputation. But that doesn't make it any less nasty or dishonest.

    3. Nah.

As observed above, he needs his job.

Rome and other places and posting pictures of the stuff he ate.

  12. Fr. Z isn't any different than a lot of Catholics who insist that AL doesn't change doctrine because the Pope "cannot" change doctrine. Well, JPII did exactly that concerning capital punishment -- and got away with it! Compare the CCC with Scripture, Augustine and Aquinas, and you'll see what I mean.

Do you know why so many Catholics who have a public outlet (such as Fr. Z and the Apologetics-Industrial Complex as a whole) are performing rhetorical gymnastics about AL? Because their ultimate faith isn't in the Triune God but in the ecclesiastical Establishment -- which has done a masterful job throughout the centuries of selling itself as the ultimate arbiter of the Holy Spirit. Loyalty to the hierarchy equals loyalty to God, in their view. Francis' entire papacy disproves that notion.

    1. Agreed. "Fr" Z is another 'convert' tool who keeps people rotating in Rome's orbit, and by Rome, I mean Judeo-Masonry's orbit. It couldn't be anymore clear.
