New Fatima Report Raises More Questions than it Answers

Why?

The recent article by Maike Hickson at OnePeterFive is another fascinating piece from one one of the premier Catholic websites. The above post title is not a criticism of Dr. Hickson or the site, obviously. Rather, they deserve nothing but thanks for continuing to break important stories. But that doesn't make things any less . . . frustrating.

Here is the heart of the piece:
Today, on the Feast of Pentecost, I called Fr. Ingo Dollinger, a German priest and former professor of theology in Brasil, who is now quite elderly and physically weak. He has been a personal friend of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI for many years. Father Dollinger unexpectedly confirmed over the phone the following facts:
Not long after the June 2000 publication of the Third Secret of Fatima by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger told Fr. Dollinger during an in-person conversation that there is still a part of the Third Secret that they have not published! “There is more than what we published,” Ratzinger said. He also told Dollinger that the published part of the Secret is authentic and that the unpublished part of the Secret speaks about “a bad council and a bad Mass” that was to come in the near future.
Father Dollinger gave me permission to publish these facts on this High Feast of the Holy Ghost and he gave me his blessing.
Read the rest, including important commentary and further context here.

Fatima conspiracy people (and I guess I'm one of them) believe that the Church has been infiltrated by . . . let's call them the bad guys. Now of course all knowledgeable and faithful Catholics would agree with this to some extent. The Church has always contained bad guys. The only question is how pervasive it is and how far up it goes. Fatima people believe it goes all the way to the "top"--although what even that means is debated.

Though the implications of this are horrific, it doesn't in and of itself raise any logical questions. Bad guys will be . . . bad guys. Obviously they will have an interest in undermining the Church, in suppressing the truth about Our Lady's words and in (forgive me) screwing with people's faith.

But what of the good guys? Pope Benedict is one of them, or at least we would hope so. And the above would seem to confirm that. If you believe that the above is true or at least partly true, then Benedict would seem to have at least some interest in making the truth known. After all, he allegedly told Fr. Dollinger about it.

The question I would want to ask Dollinger is why he didn't ask Ratzinger/Benedict at the time why such important information wasn't revealed publicly? Why only reveal it in private? It seems like such an obvious question. And I can imagine possible answers that would be reasonable. But I have not seen any answers.

Why did Ratzinger/Benedict not publicly reveal what he knew? Given the awfulness in the current Church--which must have seemed even worse to him given what he knew about the unrevealed secret--why did he then step down? Or putting that aside, why doesn't he reveal the rest of the secret now? Why doesn't the Pope Emeritus announce a press conference and just do it? I am of course not being critical of Benedict per se; only noting the obvious incongruity. It's as if there's a fourth secret (or a fifth) that asks the good guys in the know to act their parts in a sort of play, biding their time. Why? Until when? And of course everyone seems to be following some sort of tacit agreement to not go public (though it seems okay to give the occasional hint to old friends or card-carrying Fatima conspiracy authors or whomever).

I do not think I will ever become a sede or go back to being a non-practicing quasi-agnostic, but this almost seems calculated to make me throw up my hands and do so. Is it some sort of test of faith? And what of the countless souls lost in the interim?

Yes, I know mortal men are not supposed to know everything. God never promised that we would or should. But He did promise that we would be given enough information. Didn't He?

  1. I guess there could be some deliberate plan to hide portions of the Fatima prophecy in order to deceive Catholics and keep them from doing God's will, but I find it difficult to believe that so many people who otherwise would be considered good guys should be diabolical agents in disguise.

I explain Benedict's behaviour (both regarding Fatima and his own resignation) as the result of being too clever by half. Yes, he hid part of the prophecy (and publicly lied about it) but it was for our own good. It would be dangerous and counter-productive to tell Catholics that soon their own pope and priests could not be trusted, so we'll just cover up that bit and work extra hard to make sure it's never necessary that anyone know of it. Same thing with the resignation; I think there was a bit of pre-emptive manipulation going on. Benedict thought if he continued, something bad COULD happen, so he'd nip the danger in the bud by quitting and handing the reins over to a younger man who could handle the challenges. (HA!)

I call it "The Appointment in Samarra" syndrome. By doing all these smart manoeuvers to avoid disaster, Benedict has made it inevitable.

    1. The Appointment in Samarra Syndrome. That actually makes sense. Though I suppose we can still ask what he's going to do about it now.

    2. We can't forget the revelations we have now discovered by going back to Cardinal Ratzinger's writings of old. He shows himself to be in line with modern theology, and he and John Paul II were in line with each other.

It seems a bit disingenuous of him to be saying NOW that things went terribly wrong and O gee, what to do.

As for the full content of the secret - there are many now who know - the pope, former popes, their aides, and others - heck, even Malachi Martin read it and he was only Cardinal Bea's aide. The truth is out there. Is it so bad that we sheep must not know it or panic? Or, and this is what I think, it shows up the very people still alive today who had a hand in the destruction we see around us - predicted by Our Lady. BUT they cannot see themselves in this. They cannot relate to the results of their own actions. I think psychologically this is 'natural.' It CAN'T be us…so what happened? We just don't know…but we'll keep beating the horse.Francis acts as if there was no Fatima, or Fatima is concluded. Once Ratzinger dies, and a few other old guys too, the secret will be dead - to be raised up in Our Lady's good time.

    3. Malachi Martin was a fabulist.

    4. I was listening to a priest who said Martin was untrustworthy because in his book he places the papal apartment on the wrong floor. He explained that every body who really worked in the Vatican knew what floor the pope lived on just like people who really are insiders at Kensington palace know where the queen is and people at the white house know where the prez is sleeping.

    5. That's kind of a dum reason. Maybe a faulty memory or a misquote about a freakin floor? Martin worked in the Vatican as an assistant to Cardinal Bea. That much is verifiable. But although Martin's interviews gave me a lot to think about a few years ago, I don't need Martin to show me that men who were theologically trained in all the documents which preceded and totally contradicted Vat 2, upheld all Vat 2 teachings to the sheep. Hell, Ratzinger was one of Vat 2's architects.

In 2003 I thought I joined the Catholic Church. Now I am not so sure and I am mad as hell about it.

  2. Just keep being the best Catholic you can be. Invoke the aid of the Church Triumphant during these dizzying times. Know that no soul will be lost who doesn't deserve it, say simply because information wasn't available from the lips of Pope Emeritus Benefict. God is in control as this drama plays out. Beautiful Virgin, pray for Oakes, seeker of Truth.

  3. Did the good guys think they were smarter than Our Lady? If so they were very dumb.

  4. You know God knows exactly what is happening and He is guiding us as He has always done through His prophets. How many will listen?

  5. Mother of Salvation: The last secret of Fatima was not revealed, so terrifying was it

    July 22, 2013

My child, the deceit, which the world will face, will be so difficult to discern, that only those who surrender to God and place all their trust in my Son, will be able to endure the trials, which lie ahead.

I gave the world the prophecies in 1917, but the last secret of Fatima was not revealed, so terrifying was it for those within the Catholic Church.

The last secret of Fatima still remains unknown to God’s children, although part of it was revealed to you on 26 January, 2012. Very few within the Church are privy to this. Now, the next part of the final secret of Fatima must be revealed, so that I can warn humanity of the consequences of ignoring my intervention to help save souls.

The Church has been infested, from the inside, by enemies of God. They – and there are twenty of them who control from within – have created the greatest deceit. They have elected a man, not of God, while the Holy Father, accorded the Crown of Peter, has been carefully removed.

The details, which I revealed, are that there would be two men wearing the Crown of Peter in the end times. One will suffer because of lies which have been created to discredit him and which will render him a virtual prisoner. The other one elected will bring about the destruction, not only of the Catholic Church, but of all churches which honour my Father and who accept the Teachings of my Son, Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world.

There can only be one head of the Church on Earth, authorised by my Son, who must remain pope until his death. Anyone else, who claims to sit in the Seat of Peter, is an imposter. This deceit has one purpose, to turn souls over to Lucifer and there is little time for such souls, who will be none the wiser, to be saved.

Children, you must only heed one warning, now. Do not deviate from the Teachings of my Son. Question every new doctrine, which may be presented to you and which professes to come from my Son’s Church on Earth. The Truth is simple. It never changes. My Son’s Legacy is very clear. Do not allow anyone to cloud your judgement.

Soon the Fatima prophecies will make sense. All is now taking place before a disbelieving world, but sadly, very few will understand until it is too late.

Pray, pray, pray my Most Holy Rosary, as often as possible, every single day, in order to dilute the effect of the evil, which surrounds you.

    Your beloved Mother

  6. I Don't Get It

Recent reports suggest BVI has in the past admitted to not releasing the entire (alleged dire) Third Secret of Fatima.

    http://www.onepeterfive.com/cardinal-ratzinger-not-published-whole-third-secret-fatima/

Which would mean Benedict was not telling the whole truth when he apparently released the contents of that Secret during the pontificate of John Paul II.

And the new revelations seem to quote as supplementary corroborating evidence something that Alice Von Hildebrand said about learning, years ago, that the officially unreleased Third Secret had to do with apostasy infiltrating the very top in the Church.

If so, this would hardly be insignificant in the light of Progressivist aims at the recent Family Synods and Francis' scandalously ambiguous Final Exhortation on the moral issues involved in those synod assemblies. Especially as one of the reports is alleged to have said that the Secret in part has to do precisely with the family.

But what then is to be made of Benedict's personal Secretary's denying there is any rift between Benedict and Francis?

    http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2015/01/22/benedict-xvi-aide-denies-rift-with-francis/

Or John Allen's reporting that Benedict XVI only recently quoted Francis quite favorably, live and in person?:

“Pope Francis, is totally in agreement with this line,” (regarding mercy) Benedict says. “His pastoral practice is expressed in the fact that he continually speaks to us of God’s mercy. It is mercy that moves us toward God, while justice frightens us before Him.”

    http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2016/03/19/benedict-and-francis-are-more-lennon-mccartney-than-frazier-ali/

And what of BXVI's hugging Francis, apparently sincerely, a number of times publicly? No leaks to my knowledge have indicated this was an insincere coerced show for the media.

Would Benedict do all this for an antipope usurper? But then again the tensions between the theology of Ratzinger / Benedict and Francis seem very real. I don't get it.

  7. Why is it necessary to speculate about the Third Secret as its contents are already there for all to see?

  9. The conclusion must be that for whatever reason Cardinal Ratzinger lied. The guy who we were told was secretly in our corner quietly fighting for us against the modernists-- according to his friend who is at the age when many people are close to leaving this world and who probably wants to get stuff off his chest -- lied. Heartbreaking. My hope is that John 23 looked at the message and was sure it didn't apply to him because he'd never do what was mentioned. I hope all the Pope's after him genuinely thought Our Lady wasn't talking about tjem. As for the message itself I think it was what Our Lady said at La Salette only with more detail.

  10. I have the same question about two other good guys. The first is Archbishop Sheen who converted Bella Dodd from communism. She became famous because she announced to the world that Moscow had spent many decades sending men into the seminaries to damage the Church from within. Some of these men rose very high. Archbishop Sheen forbade Bella to name them in public or in private. The second is Fr Malachi Martin who read the entirety of the secret. He tried to warn us that we were living through the consequences of not fulling Our Lady’s request but, he would never actually reveal the secret.
God is still in control and by his Mercy has thrown us huge life lines. It must also be said that God has given our generation many graces like 5 First Saturday Devotions, Devine Mercy Sunday etc. It’s where we end up in eternity that matters.
St John Paul II famously said: "Many wish to know simply from curiosity and a taste for the sensational, but they forget that knowledge also implies responsibility. They only seek the satisfaction of their curiosity, and that is dangerous if at the same time they are not disposed to do something, and if they are convinced that it is impossible to do anything against evil."
At that point the Pope grasped a Rosary and said: "Here is the remedy against this evil. Pray, pray, and ask for nothing more. Leave everything else to the Mother of God.

    1. Would like to add...There should be no excuse for disobeying Our Lady and withholding the secret. This was a direct request from Heaven. Those responsible will answer to God. Stay close to Our Lady always for she will not abandon us in this current confusion and the more troubling times ahead.

  11. The one responsible for withholding the secret has been canonized. Canonizations are infallible. This is just one more reason to believe that Francis is not a pope.
