Not a Parody: Ventura County Nuclear Preparedness Video Advises Bursting Into Song and Dancing

This is a real video put out recently by the Ventura County Health Care Agency on how to survive a nuclear strike nearby. I have idea whether the county is liberal or conservative or whatever.

I do know that if you thought Duck and Cover was silly (or even if you didn't), this is a thousand times that.

As for the advice itself, I think merely staying inside is problematic. Depending on where you are, and the characteristics of the bomb as well as the weather, etc., moving farther away or out of the path of the radioactive cloud might be a better option. It sort of depends. Though perhaps the idea is that by watching the news, you'll know whether to evacuate or not. If your electricity still works.

But I assume that singing and dancing will usually be ineffective.

    1. Exactly!! Why does anyone pay attention to anything that happens in California...or New York...or Oregon...or Illinois? There's a reason they call Jerry Brown Governor Moonbeam.

  2. They're freaking kidding, right?

Trying to make light of a nuclear explosion is one of the most asinine things anybody has thought of.

This is denial on steroids, caffeine and crystal meth.

  3. Video seems to be saying that "we don't take any of the nuclear bombing business seriously and neither should you." Live love and be happy, etc.

  4. We skipped the light fandango
    Turned cartwheels cross the floor
    I was feeling kinda irradiated
And the enemy dropped a few more
    The area was humming harder
    As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
    The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Began to melt upon the floor

  6. Kind of a cute little bomb going off there! Doesn't look too bad at all - and of course this would be the only one, right?

Nothing is said about who or what is suffering the direct hit just beyond that lovely rolling hill.

I think we would survive indoors for a little while. Maybe even weeks. As long as you have water, a can opener and lots and lots of canned goods you're good to go - at least until the radiation spreads. But don't forget the toilet paper and lots of plastic bags!

I think this sort of thing is another not so subtle dig at Trump. Who else will get us into this sort of mess, right?

After what Our Lady said: "the living will envy the dead" I'm not sure staying inside and being 'safe' is going to help. Thanks for the chuckle.
