Why France is Doomed

Peace, love and submission

I previously wrote that Western Europe would not go Muslim.

The argument was that the vast majority of Western Europeans, even among those on the left, do not want to live under sharia or quasi-sharia law.

So, since the Islamic tide was rising and will continue to rise, the only question (so I wrote previously) was when that tide would be resisted. Things have gone far enough in most Western European countries that opposing Islam now would probably involve low-level civil war. However, opposing it in ten or twenty years will involve full-blown civil war - a conflict that would make the breakup of Yugoslavia look like a picnic.

The choice, I wrote then, was not whether it would be resisted, but when.

I was wrong.

France will go Muslim, probably in a manner not unlike that described in Michel Houellebecq's recent novel Soumission.

And no doubt, a number of other Western European countries - Sweden certainly - will also fall.

Here is why I was wrong: though the long-term choice is between accepting Islam or resisting it, the short term choices are not as obvious or stark. Or at least they seem not to be.

And human beings are very good at avoiding difficult choices until it's too late to make any choice.

Liberties are being lost, but they're being lost gradually. Crime is rising, but it's rising gradually. Secularism or humanism (in the good sense of those terms) is losing force at a steady rate, but it's nothing dramatic. Our at least it doesn't seem so.

At each point, and for most people, doing nothing doesn't and won't seem so bad. Things will go on as before, at least for the time being. By the time a leftist-Muslim coalition government is poised to take control, even then, that won't seem like such a dramatic change - since people will have gradually become accustomed to it.

What do you prefer (the question will appear to be) a bloody civil war or just a bit more Islam?

Or (some might even feel), wasn't it all inevitable anyway?

The engine for this is of course demographics. France is said to have a population of 5 million Muslims, or 7.5% out of a population of 60 million. But many believe the true number is actually much higher - one estimate puts it at 15-20 million. While that claim might be on the high side, the fact is that no one really knows the true figure. It's not as if there are statisticians in the growing "no-go" zones of Paris and other cities, knocking on doors and counting heads.

The only thing that is certain is that the number is rising quickly, even without taking immigration or the recent "migrant" phenomenon into account.

For the recent "remembrance" observances of the November Paris attacks, people made little paper "peace lanterns" and sent them floating down the Seine. The "enemy," such as there was one, was not Islam or Islamism or Islamic terror or even terrorism, but the even more general (and meaningless) "hate" or "violence" - labels that could be (and are) conveniently applied to those who oppose Islamic terror.

On the stage of the Bataclan where Muslim soldiers tortured and murdered 89 people, The English singer, Sting proclaimed that “Inshallah (God willing),” was “a magnificent word.” The audience applauded, standing literally on the spot where that word was used to justify the slaughter of innocents.

The musicians who had played on that night (they escaped but one of their managers was killed) were treated as personae non grata because one of them had said some things which just might be interpreted as contrary to the accommodationist mood.

The spectacle was grotesque. But it summed up the contemporary situation in France quite well.

France will become an Islamic state, in effect if not in name.

Obviously, I hope I'm wrong.

Tell me why I am wrong.

Or tell me what can be done to make it so.

The New Mexico: French Anti-Terror Captain Gives Interview Wearing Bataclava

In Mexico and other Central American countries, anti-drug cartel police commonly wear balaclavas or face masks so as to preclude retaliation against them or their families.

France is the new Mexico.

That this is the new normal in a "First World" nation is of course obscene.

But it will get worse.

From NBC News via the Daily Mail:
The commando leader who led the police assault on the Bataclan concert hall (inset bottom right, the aftermath of the massacre) following Friday's massacre in Paris has described the 'Hell on earth' his team found as they stormed the building. Jeremy (left, wearing a balaclava, stands next to the shield used by his elite unit during the raid), the captain of the commando team, spoke to NBC News on the condition that his last name was not used. Jeremy said his team had to ignore the desperate pleas of dying victims of the sickening mass murder as they hunted down the jihadis. The terrorists were hiding in a back room with 20 more hostages, but the elite unit were eventually able to get close enough to engage the ISIS jihadis, who blew themselves up using suicide vests.

Eagles of Death Metal Were Vocally Anti-BDS; Concert Hall Probably Targeted Due to Jewish Owners, Pro-Israel Stance

The Bataclan Theatre, designed in 1864 by Charles Duval
The Bataclan Theatre is an historic concert hall that is currently Jewish owned and has played host to a number of pro-Israel events (for more, see below).

The band playing at the time of the attack, the Eagles of Death Metal--an ironically named California garage rock duo that plays with a rotating cast of other musicians--had toured Israel many times and had become known for its opposition to the BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) movement. The bass player, Matt McJunkins sent this tweet from the Bataclan stage, shortly before the concert began:

Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme from the EDM Facebook page
On Reddit, a fan posted this about an Eagles of Death Metal concert:
What's the most eventful/controversial live performance you've ever seen?
Well, living in Israel I've been to a whole bunch of controversial show with artists being threatened, etc. Most artists ignored it and played their normal set, some added a speech for peace or something, but the most memorable one was easily Eagles of Death Metal, where Jesse Hughes went on an amazing rant against Roger Waters (one of the leaders of the BDS movement among musicians), declaring "Fuck you Roger Waters! Fuck you!".
Couldn't find the whole thing but the ending of the speech, where he says 'don't give a fuck about what an asshole thinks' (referencing Waters), is here.

From The Tower:
Report: Concert Hall May Have Been Targeted for Jewish Link
by TheTower.org Staff | 11.13.15 11:51 pm
In the wake of the terror assault in Paris Friday evening, a leading French news website has suggested that the most deadly location, the Bataclan theater, may have been chosen for its known Jewish and Israel connection. More than 100 people were murdered and scores more injured after gunmen threw explosives, opened fire and subsequently executed hostages in theater as part of a coordinated assault at six different locations in Paris, killing more than 150 people. No group has claimed responsibility, though the AP cited a number of experts suggesting the sophisticated, coordinated attack was most likely conducted by Islamists.
According to the French newsmagazine Le Point, the theater has been the target of threats for years because of its frequent hosting of Jewish and Israel-focused events.
According to the report, an interrogation of a member of the “Jaish al-Islam” group in 2011 led to the suspect’s claim that “We had a planned attack against the Bataclan because the owners are Jews.”
Similarly in December 2008, as seen in the video below, a group of youths wearing kaffiyehs descended upon employees of the theater protesting a planned gala event for the Israeli Border Police.
According to the report, subsequent Israel-focused events were often accompanied by a flurry of anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic hate-speech online.
The specific event targeted this evening also had a known Israel connection. The southern-California band, Eagles of Death Metal, performed in Israel this past summer despite public efforts to convince them not to, led by former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters. According to YNet, the band resisted the call vigorously, with guitarist Jesse Hughes claiming to have answered Waters “F– you.”
