Chilling Video of Suicide Bomber Calmly Walking Into Cairo Church

The bomber walks from the bottom right of the screen, fairly rapidly but calmly. It looks as if the man under the tree at lower left may have tried to say something or challenge him but the bomber keeps walking into the small courtyard of the Church. For a few seconds there is calm and then a tremendous explosion blows out the windows and part of the roof.

According to the Egyptian authorities, the bomber was killed in the explosion. If true, the black-clad man seen running out of the church a few seconds later is obviously not the bomber.

Haunting footage captures an ISIS suicide bomber calmly strolling into a Cairo church before killing 25 Christians in a savage attack
  • Abu Abdallah al-Masri detonated a 12kg bomb killing 25 on Sunday

Horrifying footage showing the moment an ISIS suicide bomber killed 25 Christians at a Cairo church has been released by the Egyptian government.

Abu Abdallah al-Masri detonated a 12kg bomb targeting Cairo's main Coptic Christian community, killing six children and 19 adults who were mostly women.
A further 49 were wounded in the savage attack on Sunday.
Now, the Egyptian government has released footage showing the bombing which appears to capture the 22-year-old terrorist in the act.

The video is a recording of CCTV footage from outside a chapel adjacent to St. Mark's Cathedral, seat of Egypt's ancient Coptic Orthodox Church.

It shows a dark figure crossing the street and walking through the gates of the church.
Moments later, the blast sends clouds of dust and debris through the windows.
It was among the deadliest attacks in recent memory to target Egypt's Coptic minority, which makes up around 10 percent of the population and was largely supportive of the military overthrow of a freely elected Islamist president in 2013.
El-Sissi led the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi, a senior figure in the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group.
Since then, Islamic militants have carried out scores of attacks, mainly targeting the security forces, while the government has waged a wide-scale crackdown on dissent.
Small protests were held outside the church in the aftermath of the attack, as Christians accused the government of failing to protect them, a complaint that goes back many years.
Officials and government supporters have touted the quick identification of the suspected bomber as proof of the efficiency of the security bodies, but Christian activist Nader Shokry said more could have been done to prevent the attack.
'How did all this planning take place without the security knowing about it?' he said. 'You are saying that this person belongs to a terror group and has been previously arrested... So you should have kept a close eye on him.'
The Interior Ministry said late Monday that the attacker belonged to a terror cell founded by an Egyptian doctor and funded by Muslim Brotherhood leaders living in exile in Qatar. It said the cell was tasked with staging attacks that would stir sectarian strife.
But Islamic state has claimed responsibility for the bombing in a statement released on Tuesday.
Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with Sunday's attack and other suspects were on the run, el-Sissi said.
The Brotherhood condemned the bombing.

Paris Jihadist Stabs Police Officer then Kills the Officer's Wife in Front of their 3-Year-Old Child

From RT news, a few minutes ago (via Pamela Geller):
A police raid in the Paris suburb commune of Magnanville has ended with the death of a hostage taker, who fatally stabbed a police officer near his house and then killed his wife. Reports claim the man was shouting Islamist slogans during the attack.
RAID special forces raided the premises and shot the stabber dead, Francetv info has reported, citing a French Interior Ministry spokesman. The officers discovered the body of a woman in the house and rescued a 3-year old boy.
The attacker shouted “Allah Akbar,” Le Parisien cited witnesses as saying.
The female victim was “probably the partner of the commander, who herself was a police officer,” French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said.
The decision to carry out the raid was made after negotiations failed, he confirmed.
“Negotiations were opened, but it became clear that they would not succeed and police then entered the home, where they found the body of a woman,” Brandet said.
The boy rescued in the course of the raid was “in shock but unharmed,” the spokesman said, as cited by AFP.

UPDATE (8:00 CST): The Daily Mail is now reporting that the attacker "pledged allegiance to ISIS."

My Man

Pamela Geller and Ted Cruz

Despite the exuberant title, this is not an endorsement of Ted Cruz.

I'm not telling you to vote for him. I'm not even saying I'll vote for him.

Nor, for the purposes of this post, am I interested in commenting on his overall character or fitness for the presidency, etc.

This blog was set up a little more than a year ago in response to the Charlie Hebdo attacks.  The purpose was to draw attention to and combat Islamic aggression. A subsidiary goal was to defend Israel--in large part because that valiant country was (and still is) ground zero in that effort.

I've also said a few things about Catholicism. I hope you have found them interesting.

But combatting Islamic aggression is by far the most important political issue of our time. It's hitting Europe in a big way now, but it will hit the United States in a big way soon enough. And even before that, when the European civil war comes, the U.S. will be drawn into it. We'll need a leader who understands the issue.

Many, if not most Western politicians are either clueless on the issue or are passive or active collaborators with the bad guys.

A few get it.

Among the 2016 presidential contenders, Ted Cruz seems to understand the issue more than any of the rest. Whether this is sincere or a political calculation, I have no idea. But his publicly stated positions have been consistent.

Before continuing, let's dispose of Donald Trump. He recently famously argued for a complete moratorium on Muslim immigration to the United States. This earned him condemnations from the usual suspects, as well as plaudits (and probably votes) from many. But when the Draw Muhammed festival in Garland, Texas was attacked by Muslim terrorists, Trump was part of the chorus that condemned not the terrorists (quite) but the festival organizers, including Pamela Geller. Here's one tweet:
The U.S. has enough problems without publicity seekers going out and openly mocking religion in order to provoke attacks and death. BE SMART
Geller doesn't mock religion. She mocks Sharia and terrorist Islam, which oh so dearly deserves to be mocked, at least for those who have an ounce of humanity left in them. But according to Trump, Geller (who risks her life every day) is to blame for Muslim terrorists trying to kill her and others for drawing Muhammad's kisser. And Trump (as he claims in another tweet) is a fighter for free speech?

Hey, Trump: have you tried to take any property from little old ladies recently?

Trump goes off in his "common sense" "plain speaking" way on 1001 things. That he's right on some of them (a strong statistical probability) doesn't mean his heart (if he has one) is necessarily in the right place.

Trump is like Mark Shea.

But here is Cruz on the Draw Muhammad attacks:
“We saw the ugly face of radical Islam in Garland, Texas, recently,” Cruz said of last Sunday’s shooting at a “Draw Muhammad” event there.
“Thankfully, one police officer helped those terrorists meet their virgins.”
And here's a neat story on Cruz being booed off the stage for defending Israel:
Sen. Ted Cruz was booed offstage at a conference for Middle Eastern Christians Wednesday night after saying that “Christians have no greater ally than Israel.”
Cruz, the keynote speaker at the sold-out D.C. dinner gala for the recently-founded non-profit In Defense of Christians, began by saying that “tonight, we are all united in defense of Christians. Tonight, we are all united in defense of Jews. Tonight, we are all united in defense of people of good faith, who are standing together against those who would persecute and murder those who dare disagree with their religious teachings.”
Cruz was not reading from a teleprompter, nor did he appear to be reading from notes.
“Religious bigotry is a cancer with many manifestations,” he continued. “ISIS, al-Qaida, Hezbollah, Hamas, state sponsors like Syria and Iran, are all engaged in a vicious genocidal campaign to destroy religious minorities in the Middle East. Sometimes we are told not to loop these groups together, that we have to understand their so called nuances and differences. But we shouldn’t try to parse different manifestations of evil that are on a murderous rampage through the region. Hate is hate, and murder is murder. Our purpose here tonight is to highlight a terrible injustice, a humanitarian crisis.”
“Christians have no greater ally than Israel,” he said, at which point members of the crowd began to yell “stop it” and booed him.
“Those who hate Israel hate America,” he continued, as the boos and calls for him to leave the stage got louder. “Those who hate Jews hate Christians. If those in this room will not recognize that, then my heart weeps. If you hate the Jewish people you are not reflecting the teachings of Christ. And the very same people who persecute and murder Christians right now, who crucify Christians, who behead children, are the very same people who target Jews for their faith, for the same reason.”
The cries of “stop it, stop it, enough,” and booing continued. “Out, out, leave the stage!” At this point IDC’s president, Toufic Baaklini, came out to the stage to ask for the crowd to listen to Cruz, but Cruz had already had enough.
“If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews,” he said. “Then I will not stand with you. Good night, and God bless.” And with that, he walked off the stage.

Pamela Geller endorsed him. That's worth a million Sarah Palins, I think.

In the long run, either we'll go Sharia or we won't. If we don't, it will probably be due in part to a new De Gaulle or Churchill or Reagan. He could be a Catholic or a non-Catholic Christian. He might even be an atheist.

I'd vote for a new Pim Fortuyn in a moment.

Will he be Ted Cruz? I doubt it. That says less about him than it does about the time and place that we're at right now. But if you care about the Islam issue, he deserves credit and a look.

Indeed, Cruz deserves more than standard credit for what he did on that stage.

God works in strange ways. All sorts of people may find themselves champions in His eyes. And they might even save their own souls in the bargain.

Pamela Geller on Vatican Treaty: "This is a Massive Betrayal of Israel and All Free People, and an Endorsement of the Genocidal 'Palestinian' Jihad Against the Jews"

Munich, 1972: A Palestinian nation builder

One-hundred-and-fifty years ago (and for over a thousand years before that) the Catholic Church actually had a state. And it did more than just mint postage stamps. It had soldiers and courts and taxes and everything.

Now, that "state" is for most practical purposes non-existent. And it has been reduced to making treaties with other non-existent states.

Such as "Palestine".

The Vatican recently announced it would recognize and sign a treaty with the state of Palestine--a fictional entity that the terrorist Palestinian Liberation Organization would like to actualize.

How many Jews did you kill at the Munich Olympics, Johnny Palestine?

And I was worried about a kissing scandal.

Let's listen to Pamela Geller, one of the great heroines of our time:
This is a massive betrayal of Israel and all free people, and an endorsement of the genocidal “Palestinian” jihad against the Jews. A “State of Palestine” will no more bring peace than did the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza: just as with Gaza, a “State of Palestine” will just become another jihad base. The Vatican has every reason to know that. The “Palestinians” on their official media outlets make no secret of their goal of wiping out Israel and killing Jews wholesale.
Now the Vatican has signed on to that.
The current leftist Pope is supposedly utterly opposed to the very real anti-semitism of a small segment of rightest traditionalists. "Interfaith" dialogues and prayers are held with Rabbis (and Imams) on consecrated Catholic grounds--including inviting Jewish priests (and Imams) to preside at the very alters that contain the relics of the Christian martyrs.

But the Vatican has just endorsed the cause of those who wish to destroy the Jewish state.

One might be forgiven for thinking that in practice, liberal Catholicism and the most right-wing Jewish conspiracy-obsessed SSPX offshoots now agree on one thing. It's a recurrently popular philosophical claim with a venerable pedigree:

Stick it to the Jews.

At least the SSPX offshoots are more honest about it.

Every Sunday and (when I am not lazy) on other days, I attend a Traditional Latin Mass that begins with these words from Psalm 42:
Priest: Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the unholy nation, deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.
Server: For Thou, O God, art my strength, why hast Thou cast me off? And why do I go about in sadness, while the enemy afflicts me?
Priest: Send forth Thy light and Thy truth: they have conducted me and brought me unto Thy holy mount, and into Thy tabernacles.
Server: And I will go unto the altar of God: to God, Who gives joy to my youth.
God chose to reveal Himself first to the Jews and the Jewish nation. How fitting that the current Church on Earth--which, while refusing to kneel to God, advocates kneeling to individual men--has chosen to betray His first chosen nation.

O God...distinguish my cause from the unholy nation, deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.

He will, of course.

That should bring comfort to some. And (if they have eyes to see) trepidation to many more.

Je Suis Pamela Geller

Unless, of course, you don't want to be.

It's up to you.

As usual, Robert Spencer nails it:
...instead of rallying to her defense and to that of the freedom of speech, the mainstream media, both on the Left and on the Right, has spent the week excoriating Pamela Geller for daring to “provoke” the poor jihadis, as if the two Muslim gunmen who showed up at our event would have become fiercely patriotic stockbrokers if only we hadn’t shown those cartoons.
It is therefore clear that if, God forbid, anything does happen to Pamela Geller, the talking heads will look soulfully into the cameras and say, Of course we are shocked…Of course we condemn….but…wellllll…she had it coming…she should have submitted to Sharia blasphemy restrictions like the rest of us…
The reality is that if the gunmen were “provoked” by the Muhammad cartoons, they would have been “provoked” by something else. What had the Jews in the Hyper Cacher supermarket in January done to “provoke” the Muslims? They dared to be Jews. What had the people in the Lindt Chocolat Cafe in Australia done to “provoke” the Muslims? Dared to be non-Muslims.
People who say our cartoon contest deliberately tried to provoke a violent reaction are under the apparent delusion that if we abide by Muhammad Atta’s advice to the passengers on his doomed plane on September 11, 2001, all will be well. Atta told the passengers, “Stay quiet and you’ll be OK.”
They weren’t.
...The world rallied to proclaim “Je suis Charlie” after the massacre of Muhammad cartoonists in Paris in January. But when those jihadis targeted our Muhammad cartoon event last Sunday, few were saying “Je suis Pamela Geller.” What’s the difference? The Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were reliably Leftist, while Geller is identified with the Right. And now it is clear: the Leftist intelligentsia would rather see the freedom of speech restricted, and Sharia censorship imposed, rather than stand with someone whose opinions they find unacceptable.
That really isn’t any surprise. The Left in America is increasingly authoritarian, intolerant, and opposed to the freedom of speech. Leftist thinkers speak only to each other, dismissing challenges from the Right with ad hominem attacks or ignoring them altogether. It would be easy for those who live in that echo chamber to think of the Garland jihadi gunmen, Ibrahim Simpson and Nadir Soofi, as ideological kin: assassins rather than character assassins, but with the same goal in mind.
Those who understand, however, that the freedom of speech, and free society in general, cannot possibly survive the imposition of censorship to avoid offending a group that reacts with murderous violence to being offended, are indeed saying Je Suis Pamela Geller today. If the free world ever remembers that obeying someone who will kill you if you disobey only reinforces your slavery, it will owe her a debt of gratitude of awesome proportions.

ISIS Vows to Kill Pamela Geller

An anonymous message posted on JustPasteIt (oddly, it's still up as of this posting) singles out the organizer of the Draw Muhammad Cartoon Contest, Pamela Geller as an ISIS target. The message also warns those who "protect her", "house her", "house her events" and "give her a platform to spill her filth."

The message also claims that there are "71 trained soldiers in 15 different states ready at our word to attack any target we desire." The named states were Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois and California.

On her website Geller wrote:
This threat illustrates the savagery and barbarism of the Islamic State. They want me dead for violating Sharia blasphemy laws. What remains to be seen is whether the free world will finally wake up and stand for the freedom of speech, or instead kowtow to this evil and continue to denounce me. What’s really frightening and astonishing about this threat is that the media in denouncing me is essentially allying with and even cheering on the Islamic State. I expected this from jihadists. I never expected it from my fellow Americans in the mainstream media.
She is absolutely right of course.

While Geller has received a great deal of support, she has also been the target of much nastiness from the usual anti-Islamophobe suspects.

Ms. Geller has understandably increased her security arrangements.

But it won't stop with Pamela Geller. And government and law enforcement agencies will soon have some decisions to make about offering protection to targeted individuals.

Or maybe we're just asking for it.

After all, the future does not belong to those who slander the Prophet.

Terrorist Attack Coverage: The Editors of the Daily Mail Should be Ashamed

And the winner of the contest is...a black rectangle!

A sick headline and obnoxious set of sub headers was posted a few minutes ago in the online Daily Mail:

Extreme 'free speech' group refused to cancel provocative 'Muhammad Art Exhibit' despite protests - and told the world they 'know the risks'
  • Muhammad Art Exhibit event in Garland, Texas, was attacked on Sunday
  • Gunmen opened fire at event held by American Freedom Defense Initiative
  • Organizer Pamela Geller had written before that she knew there were risks
  • But insisted event had to go ahead to oppose 'the jihad against freedom'
  • Garland residents and Democrat congressmen opposed the event

Thank you for your support, Neville Chamberlin.

The Daily Mail also blacked out all Muhammad cartoon pictures that happened to show up in any of their photographs.

So, let's get this straight: actually exercising one's right to free speech in the face of danger or threats is now extreme. Censorship of other people's speech (blacking out those cartoons) is, I guess, the new normal.

Well, we know what the Daily Mail thinks of free speech.

BREAKING NEWS: Draw Muhammad Contest in Texas Attacked by Armed Men

The War is Here.

From Jihad Watch and Pamela Geller:

Multiple shootings, possible bomb at AFDI-Jihad Watch free speech event in Texas
Posted on behalf of Robert as he is in lockdown – from Pamela Geller
This is a war. This is war on free speech. What are we going to do? Are we going to surrender to these monsters?
Two men with rifles and backpacks attacked police outside our event. A cop was shot; his injuries are not life-threatening, thank Gd. Please keep him in your prayers.
The bomb squad has been called to the event site to investigate a backpack left at the event site.
The war is here.
From NBC News:
Two Suspects Killed, Guard Shot 'Draw Muhammad' Contest in Texas BY WILLIAM J. GORTA
Two suspects were killed and a security guard was shot outside a "Draw Muhammad" contest in Garland, Texas, police told NBC News.
Police initially said a police officer was shot, but they later revised that to identify the victim as a security guard. The event was heavily policed with up to 40 extra officers assigned at a cost of $10,000 to the organizers, according to published reports.
The contest was described as a "free speech" event by its sponsor, the American Freedom Defense Initiative. It offered a $10,000 top prize and featured Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who is known for his anti-Muslim views, as its speaker.
The shooting began about 7 p.m., around the time the event was finishing up.
"Right when we were beginning to drive away, we heard gunshots," Cynthia Belisle, who attended the event with a friend, told NBC News. "We thought they were fireworks, but they were not."
Belisle said that dozens of cops sprang into action and that she was told to stay put.
She said she heard a second round of shooting and saw police rushing toward the far end of the parking lot with arms drawn.
"We were scared," she said.
Garland police spokesman Joe Harn said that the area was evacuated and that participants were being taken away from the scene on buses.
A bomb squad robot was checking on a suspicious car Sunday night, he said.
The arena, owned by the Garland school district, hosted a "Stand WIth the Prophet" event in January. It held that event as well as the "Draw Muhammad" event because it has a non-discriminatory policy, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Blue Thomas at Tumbling Toward Dhimmitude just alerted me to this.

Pamela Geller's Anti-Radical Islam Website is Shut Down by Cyber Attackers

When I was creating this blog from scratch a few days ago, one of the primary sites I wanted to link to was Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs. For some reason I couldn't do it. I thought it was me. But it turns out the site was shut down by a "denial of service attack", and as of this writing, Ms. Geller and the computer experts she has hired still haven't been able to get it back online.

I hope when you read this, the link actually works.

Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch has the story:
I keep checking my colleague Pamela Geller’s Atlas Shrugs website every few minutes, thinking that surely it will be back by now, but now for the better part of yesterday and all of today it has been down due to a massive DDOS attack.
It’s ironic that on the eve of her Rally for Free Speech in Garland, Texas (join us — RSVP here), the foes of the freedom of speech would vividly prove her point by taking her site down. But we cannot let them win.
Pamela Geller is one of the foremost voices for freedom in the world today. Every day’s headlines brings new confirmation that what she has been saying has been right all along — and has continued to say, despite an avalanche of ridicule, scorn, and contempt that would have driven a lesser person into silence long ago. And what she is doing is crucial. We have to get the truth out about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, we have to do it in an effective way, and we have to do it quickly. No one rivals Pamela Geller in doing that.
Pamela Geller is working today with web experts to get her site up and running again, and as the hours drag by and she is still not back online, it is clear that she needs the foremost web security experts available. Please help her be able to meet the cost of this with a donation via Paypal to writeatlas@aol.com. The battle to get Atlas Shrugs back online is a key battle in the war to defend the freedom of speech. Islamic supremacists have worked for years to silence Pamela Geller by defaming and threatening her. Now they’re trying to silence her by force. We cannot — we must not — acquiesce to this. Please help with a  Paypal donation now to writeatlas@aol.com.
Quite honestly, this sort of thing is not particularly surprising or unusual, which of course doesn't make it any more acceptable. Is it an ISIS hacking team or just some misguided secular Western opponents of "Islamophobia"? We may never know, but my money is on the latter.

Ms. Geller along with Robert Spencer, author of The Truth about Mohammed and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades), among other works, have been banned from entering Great Britain for being members of "hate groups". (They hate radical Islam.) But that's obviously not enough for the anti-Islamophobia crowd.

Lie about them.
Ban them.

Or, perhaps from other quarters...

Destroy their websites.
Shoot them.

Now, of course David Cameron doesn't want to shoot them. He merely banned them. But the message sent is unmistakable.

Free speech is only for people we find "acceptable".

Mohammed was a fruitcake. Ban me. I can get fish and chips at my local bar.
